Formed in 1920, Dunnington
Cricket Club have participated in the Hunters York and District
Senior League since 1963.
Honours include the Premiership title in
2001, 2002, 2003, the Division 1 title in 2000, the Division 2 title in 1964
and 1974, the League Cup in 1990, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003
and 2004. The club have also won the President's challenge in 2000, 2001,
2002, 2003 and 2004.
Last year in 2006 the club won the Hunters
Y&DSCL Intermediate title for the first time, beating Fenners, the winners
for the first two years of the competition. The 3rd Team won the Foss League
Division 1 Title, which is a 20 over competition played mid-week.
In recent years the club has included
amongst its membership several first class players including Collis King and
Alvin Kallicharan, both World Cup Winners with the West Indies, Simon Cook
(Australia, NSW, Victoria & Worcestershire), Simon Kellett (Yorkshire &
Cambridgeshire), Joseph Grant (Jamaica & Essex), Kirk Powell (Jamaica &
Middlesex) and Harwood Williams (Leeward Islands & St Kitts).
In 2005 the Second Team won the 5th
Division title completing the whole season without losing a league match.
Other honours include the Division 4 title in 1970 and 1994.
The thriving junior section competes at
U15, U13 and U11 level in the York and District Junior Leagues. Most recent
success includes the capture of the U13 League and Cup trophies in 2004.
