 | | | | | | | | | | Season : 2008 (16) | | | | | | | | | | | Team : U9 (1) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 08/05/2008 18:30 | Home | Friendly | | 0 | Lost | This could be the first time the club has ever fielded a C team. With so many in the U9 squad, this was a great opportunity for some of the players to get some early season match action. Matthew McPherson lead the way with 12 runs in our total of 227 (257/6). Osbaldwick were always comfortable in their innings finishing on 245 (261/3). Charlie Barron took 1-3 & William Farr 1-8. | Team : U9A (7) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 05/05/2008 18:30 | Away | League | | 3 | Won | The team did fantasically well, restricting Clifton to just 213 (248/7) from their 16 overs. Jones lead the response with 17 runs and Ricky Blair got 9, but it was not to be enough as they finished on 241. | | | | 12/06/2008 18:15 | Home | League | | 3 | Won | In one of their best bowling performances of the season so far, the U9s restricted Easingwold to just 190 by taking 11 wickets. Alex Wilson also had two direct hits in the field to take another 2 wickets. Dunnington safely secured the points despite losing 3 wickets in the first 2 overs. The final total of 246 was built arround innings from Harry Littlewood (17) & Will Jones (17). Will Hall added a valuable 7 and Charlie Barron 6. | | | | 17/06/2008 18:30 | Away | League | | 0 | Lost | A poor performance from the U9As combined with very strong oposition resulted in a heavy defeat. Bowling first the team let York score 297-4 (net 277) Alex Wilson was best bowler with 2-4. Regular wickets were lost in the reply, nine in total costing us 45 runs and leaving us out of the contest on 178. The only two batters with positive scores at the end were Ellie Chipps and Harry Littlewood. | | | | 02/07/2008 18:30 | Home | League | | 3 | Won | This was a great response to the defeat against York by the U9A team. Batting first they rattled up 285 (300-3). Alex Wilson top scored with 32, Will Jones got 16 & Charlie Barron 10. Selby were restricted to 240 (265-5) Alex Wilson was also best bowler with 2-10, Ellie Chipps took 1-6. | | | | 21/07/2008 18:15 | Home | League | | 0 | Lost | The A team's final league match was a disappointment due to the number of wickets they lost while batting and number of over throws whilst fielding. Alex Wilson top scored, but Acomb went on to win comfortably. The team finished comfortably mid table. | Team : U9B (8) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 08/05/2008 18:30 | Home | League | | 0 | Lost | The U9B team became the first of our Junior sides to lose this season, when they suffered at the hands of a strong Osbaldwick side. Stafford Swainston was the pick of the bowlers with 1-12. | | | | 15/05/2008 18:30 | Away | League | | 0 | Lost | The U9B team played well, restricting Londesborough to 250 in their allotted overs. They then batted well losing just 3 wickets in their 16 overs. The scoring was slow though and they finished on 208. Tom Loton made the first 50 witnessed at the ground in U9 cricket. Batsmen bat in pairs for just 4 overs in U9 cricket so Tom's achievement is remarkable. He hit six 4's and three 6's in his total of 52. Pocklington went on to post the highest U9 total seen so far at 340 (360-4). Chris Pryer took 1-24, Rory Thompson 1-32 & George Ray 1-17. Captain Rosie Todd top scored with 5 in the reply of 193 (243-10). | | | | 03/07/2008 18:30 | Away | League | | 0 | Lost | Still rooted to the foot of the division but steadily improving, the winless U9Bs scored an impressive 244 (274-6) and took four wickets, whilst still losing to York B team. Rosie Todd starred with the bat (19) and ball (1-4) and was supported by Max Boswell (13) Chris Pryer (1-19) & Will Dalton (2-10). The aim is now to win one of the 3 remaining matches. | | | | 10/07/2008 18:30 | Home | League | | 0 | Lost | Yet more signs of improvement from the B team, the fielding and batting were excellent on the night. Rosie Todd again top scored with 19 but most made a valuable contribution. Rory Thompson (6), Will Prince (5), Joel Barwick (4), David Grieves (7), Will Dalton (6) all did well in the total of 262 (277-3). Heworth proved to be a good batting side scoring 307 (327-4) to win. Will Dalton took 1-7 and there were 3 run outs. | | | | 11/07/2008 18:30 | Home | League | | 1 | Rain | This match had to be called off because of the incessant rain on Friday. We hope to rearrange it next week | | | | 14/07/2008 18:15 | Away | League | | 3 | Won | Congratulations to the U9B team who have been steadily improving all season and have now won their first match. A cracking game saw them win on the last ball, passing Acomb's total of 275 (295-4). All four batting pairs deserve praise. Rosie Todd (20) & Chris Pryer (3) got us off to a good start, without losing any wickets, Josh Barwick (4) & Findlay Dawson (3), kept up momentum and importantly didn't lose a wicket. Will Prince (13) & David Grieves (8) picked up the pace and left the final pair to make 19. Will Dalton (8) & Harrison Mussell (9) kept a cool head despite losing one wicket to win by 2 runs. The bowling & fielding were tight & eager and Will Dalton took a fine caught and bowled. Three runs outs turned out to be vital in the final result. | Season : 2007 (13) | | | | | | | | | | | Team : U9 (13) | | | | | | | | | | | | | | 20/05/2007 10:00 | Away | League | | 0 | Lost | | | | | 29/05/2007 18:15 | Away | League | | 3 | Won | In a repeat of last week’s match the U9A team defeated Stamford Bridge. Once again victory was achieved by the final batting duo of Jack Spofforth (14) & Will Jones (12) who came in with 18 needed for victory. They reached the target & played out the final two balls for another good victory. Good bowling from Spofforth (3-5), Jones (1-1), Will Hall (1-5) & Ellie Chipps (1-6) set up the team, with Stamford restricted to just 227. | | | | 31/05/2007 18:30 | Away | League | | 0 | Lost | A strong Ovington team overpowered our team, amassing 301, net 286 in their 16 overs. Poor fielding & bowling didn't help the cause & extra hard work in practise on Tuesday can be expected!! Alex Wilson was the only bowler to escape punishment posting figures of 3-8. The team performance did improve when batting. a score of 245, net 230 show they are moving in the right direction, Alex Wilson top scoring with 7. | | | | 03/06/2007 09:40 | Away | Cup | | | Semi finalists | The team performed superbly at the Heworth 6's. The highlight was a score of 256, the highest of any team on the day, against Sheriff Hutton Bridge. Qualifying for the semi finals as best runners up, after they were beaten on the last ball of their final group game by Osbaldwick. The Semi final saw them facing Osbaldwick in a repeat match. This time the bowling & fielding was very tight restricting Osbaldwick to just 220. In a tense finish, Osbaldwick edged the match after Dunnington lost 3 wickets and couldn't quite overcome the 15 run penalty. Despite being devasted at losing, the young team did fantastically well and can take great pride at their performance in their first tournament. | | | | 21/06/2007 18:30 | Home | League | | 0 | Lost | A late fightback was not enough to save the match. Four wickets in the last 4 overs brought the scores to within 6 runs after Ovington appeared to be running away with the match. All the team made valuable contributions to the run chase, Alex Wilson top scored with 9 in a total of 260-5 (net 235). The five wickets lost cost us valuable runs & eventually tipped the match. In the field, early wides cost the side dearly and Ovington cruised to a sizable lead. The fightback was lead by Keon Williams (1-4), Jack Spofforth (1-4) & Oliver Peake Vout (2-1). Ovington finished on 271-6 (net 241). This was a good performance against a side that will probably win the league. | | | | 25/06/2007 18:30 | Away | League | | 1 | Rained off | This match was called off due to extreme weather | | | | 25/06/2007 18:30 | Home | League | | 1 | Rain | | | | | 27/06/2007 18:30 | Home | League | | 0 | Lost | A well organised York team beat our U9A team convincingly. Batting first they compiled runs without seeming to hit many boundaries. The best bowling figures came from Will Burns 0-4, Keon Williams 1-7 & Jack Spofforth 1-2. Final scores were York 260, Dunnington 211. | | | | 01/07/2007 10:00 | Home | League | | 1 | Rain | This match was rained off | | | | 02/07/2007 18:30 | Home | League | | 1 | Rain | | | | | 03/07/2007 18:30 | Home | League | | 0 | Lost | The U9B team were well beaten by the A team. Batting first the B team lost early wickets but recovered well to reach a decent total. In reply the A team overwhelmed the B team reaching a record score of 339. | | | | 06/07/2007 18:30 | TBC | League | | 0 | Lost | York ran riot against the U9B team, scoring 336-1 (Net 331). Rosie Todd (1-8) was the best bowler and the only one to take a wicket. In reply too many early wickets were conceded and the side finished on 220-10 (Net 169). Rosie Todd was also the best batter with 8. | | | | 10/07/2007 18:15 | Away | Friendly | | | Lost | Having borrowed two players to make up their numbers, Bolton Percy proceded to a convincing victory, scoring 295 & conceding 199. It was a useful run out for many of the U9 players unable to get into the teams during the regular season and should stand them in good stead for next season. |
