Tom Wilson his opening partner got 12 and Eshan Malhotra scored 10 lower down the order. Again the bowlers did their best to defend the score. Ollie Smith threw the wickets down to run out the Dringhouse opener from the first ball, but this was a false dawn & the remaining batsmen saw them home. Only skipper Tom Wilson missed out, whilst chasing runs late on. Malhotra got 10, Souter 13, Smith 12 and Jack Lehuray 14. Defending 73 the U15s entered the last over with Wheldrake on 71. Captain Tom Wilson conceded one from the first 4 balls then took 2 wickets off the last two balls to win the match by 1 run. Wilson finished with figures of 7-2 from his 2 overs. Eshan Malhotra had started the comeback the previous over by taking 2 wickets, he finished with 2-17. Ollie Souter bowled 2 tight overs for just 7 runs. Earlier Malhotra (13) had opening the innnings with Adam Dyson (17), their partnership formed the basis of the Dunnington innings. Ollie Smith batted well later in the order scoring 24. Batting first, Yapham reached a respectable 93-4 from 18 overs, with Sam Tattersall recording figures of 2-17 in 4 overs, before they were blown away by Dunnington's Mike Shaw and Captain Adam Sutcliffe, who ammassed an unbroken second wicket partnership of 73. Sutcliffe finished unbeaten on 48, just two runs away from a second 50 in two matches, while Shaw reached 36. It was a night to forget for Lawrence Blackater who batted at No.3 after inadvertently walking out to open the innnings with only one pad on. He then failed to trouble the scorers when he did get to the crease. |
