After the 1st team conceded their Senior Charity Cup match to Acomb the 2nd team couldn't defend a total of 135 in a rain affected match. | Competition : League (22) | | | | | | | | | | 26/04/2008 13:00 | | Away | Lost | 4 | Colin Dodsworth Plastering | The 2nd team started the season with a customary defeat. Batting first on a typical early season sticky wicket, openers Andy Chipps 36 & Dave Wilson 38 reached 76 without loss. however once they had gone the team quickly lost wickets to finish on 144-10. Only Neil Wilson 24 and Adam Sutcliffe 12 got into double figures. Malton only reached their target in the last over, supporting the feeling that the Dunnington score was about 30 below par. | | 03/05/2008 13:30 | | Home | Lost | 4 | Colin Dodsworth Plastering | This was a heavy defeat for the 2nd Team. Bubwith won the toss and decided to bat, their decision vindicated when they racked up 234 and bowled Dunnington out for 97. Paul Van Dyk made all the difference when he scored a classy 126*. The pick of the Dunnington bowlers were Adam Sutcliffe 5-52 & Andy Chipps 3-52. The Dunnington innnings never got started. Bubwith bowled well hitting the stumps 8 times with one LBW. The only Dunnington players to reach double figures were Steve Wilson (15) and Josh Tattersall, who looked like he was finding his form with a solid 13. | | 10/05/2008 13:30 | | Away | Draw | 5 | Colin Dodsworth Plastering | The second’s bad start to the campaign continued at Stamford Bridge where a losing draw left them 19 points adrift at the bottom of Division 4A. Stamford made a brisk start before being pegged bag to finish on 164-8. Adam Sutcliffe returned his second consecutive 5 wicket haul. Gary Andrew & Dave Wilson gave the team a solid if slow start to their innings, but the batting never caught fire. Andy Chipps made 25* at the end of the innings and batted out the final overs with last man Tom Wilson making a vital contribution, 93-9 meant that no batting bonus points were gained. | | 17/05/2008 13:30 | | Home | Draw | 6 | | This game will be remembered for the fact that the 3 members of the Bilton family playing for Woodhouse all scored 50 runs in their total of 256-7. The 2nd's had several absentees but the replacements worked hard in the field on what was a good batting wicket. Steve Wilson lead the reply with 66 and the draw was secured by Jonny Andrew 17* and Simon Richardson. Results like this are not enough however and the team are currently rooted to the bottom of the table. | | 24/05/2008 13:30 | | Home | Won | 30 | | The 2nds season finally started with a good win against a weakened Hornsea side. With several players at Wembley watching Hull win the playoffs Hornsea only arrived with 10 men. Showing no mercy the Dunnington bowlers dispatched them for 110 and the batters knocked them off for just 3 wickets. Steve Young 38* & Josh Tattersall 42* were rarely troubled. | | 31/05/2008 13:30 | | Away | Won | 30 | | The second team secured a second consecutive win thanks to a century partnership between Josh Tattersall (66*) and Gary Andrew (61). Earlier Cawood had been restricted to 160-8 thanks to some tight bowling & fielding. Steve Young (3-28) & Adam Sutcliffe (3-52) were the leading bowlers. Dunnington lost early wickets before Tattersall & Andrew came together & secured the points. | | 07/06/2008 13:30 | | Home | Drew | 7 | | Pickering reached 197-8 on a damp pitch. Steve Young was the leading bowler with 4-18. In reply Dunnington faltered and ended up clinging on for the last 2 overs to salvage a draw. They finished on 137-9 with Steve Wilson top scorer with 34. | | 14/06/2008 13:30 | | Home | Won | 30 | | The 2nd XI made it 3 wins in 4 matches with a good win against Wilberfoss. Gerard Camplejohn & Steve Young took 3 wickets apiece as Wilberfoss were restricted to 147. Dunnington's reply started well but a mid innings collapse took them to 60-4. Adam Sutcliffe (42) & Mike Shaw (39*) built a match winning partnership, which despite a couple of late wickets resulted in a comfortable win. | | 21/06/2008 13:30 | | Away | Rain | 9 | | This match was inevitably lost to rain. Both teams turned up just as the rain started spotting. The forecast was for heavy rain & it duely arrived in the 10th over. Dunnington were 27-0, Andy Chipps 14* & Dave Wilson 8*. All other matches were similarly affected so nothing was lost in league position. | | 28/06/2008 13:30 | | Home | Lost | 4 | | A disappointing defeat brought a 7 match unbeaten run to an end. Batting first the 2nds could only make 149-9 as they constantly lost wickets thoughout the innings. Josh Tattersall continued his good form this season, scoring 43. Worse was to follow, the bowling was particularly poor allowing Welton to reach their target comfortably. | | 05/07/2008 13:30 | | Away | Rain | 9 | | This match was abandoned without starting | | 12/07/2008 13:30 | | Home | Rain | 9 | | This match was cancelled on the morning of the match due to a waterlogged pitch | | 19/07/2008 13:30 | | Away | Drew | 10 | | Dunnington hung on for a draw in a very late finish at Bubwith. The home side had posted 214-5 in the first innnings when the heavens opened and play was delayed for an hour. Upon resumption Dunnington, batting without skipper Dave Wilson who had to leave to attend a Golden wedding anniversary, reached 166-7. Steve Wilson got 48 & Grant Bulmer 49. | | 26/07/2008 13:30 | | Home | Won | 30 | | | | 02/08/2008 13:30 | | Away | Draw | 5 | | | | 09/08/2008 13:30 | | Away | Rain | 9 | | | | 16/08/2008 13:30 | | Home | Draw | 6 | | | | 23/08/2008 13:30 | | Away | Lost | 1 | | A side weakened by football & festivals was easily defeated by a Pickering side who are currently top of the table. After losing a vital toss due to the exremely wet condition of the wicket, skipper, Dave Wilson, dug in for an unbeaten 51 from 43.5 overs. However, a score of 116-7 was never going to be enough. The wicket became more predictable as the match progressed and the Pickering batsmen only lost one wicket in reaching their target. | | 25/08/2008 13:30 | | Home | Lost | 1 | | For the 2nd time in the weekend, the 2nds lost heavily, increasing the threat of relegation. Batting first on a tricky wicket they were only able to post a total of 92. Grant Bulmer top scored with a quick fire 18. In reply Welton scored 93-2, both wickets being taken by Josh Tattersall. | | 30/08/2008 13:00 | | Away | Won | 30 | | The 2nds ensured survival for the season with a hard fought win against local rivals Wilberfoss. Steve Wilson (26) & Andy Chipps (78) got the side off to a good start and Dave Wilson (38) & Steve Young (42) provided good runs in the middle order. The final total of 199-6 was the highest score from the team for quite some time. Wilberfoss fought back well and looked to be in control before Andy Chipps took 5-23 & helped seal the match & a place in Division 4A next season. | | 06/09/2008 13:00 | | Home | Rain | 9 | | Another match called off, this one on Friday as the ground was so wet | | 13/09/2008 13:00 | | Away | Draw | 3 | | This match at the end of the wettest season on record, was surprisingly played in the sunshine. It proved to be a good opportunity for some of the younger players to play a part. Jonny Andrew took full advantage hitting a personal best 46. Tom Wilson had earlier bowled 5 tight overs taking 1-10. Welton easily took the best of the draw running up 255-2 and restricting Dunnington to 111-6. There was even the opportunity for Seniors Dave Wilson, Graham Freer and Gary Andrew to get a bowl, with Andrew taking a rare wicket. | Season : 2007 (25) | | | | | | | | | Competition : Frank Piercy Cup (2) | | | | | | | | | | 28/06/2007 18:30 | | Home | Won | | | The second team pulled off a fine win against a team two divisions above them. A tight bowling & fielding performance restricted Stillington to just 90 off their 12 overs. Adam Sutcliffe took 3 fine catches & Gerard Camplejohn took 4 wickets. In reply contributions from Andy Chipps (21) & Josh Tattersall (25) set up a tight finish. Mike Shaw, rapidly becoming a veteran of these situations hit 4 from the last ball to win the match. | | 24/07/2007 18:30 | | Away | Lost | | | Clifton ended the 2nd Team's Frank Piercy Cup aspirations in much the same way as they did in the Junior Charity Cup earlier in the season. Batting first with a 20 run advantage due the handicap rules Dunnington scored 94-6 in their 16 overs. Clifton raced through their run chase losing just 3 wickets in reaching their total. Former Dunnington player and current Clifton skipper John Myres got a deserved unbeaten half century. | Competition : Junior Charity Cup (1) | | | | | | | | | | 07/06/2007 18:30 | | Home | Lost | | | A drubbing!! Clifton got 224 in their 16 overs. Dave Wilson hit a brave 77* in a spirited response that got us to 137-3 but overall there was a difference in class between the Division 3 team and ourselves. | Competition : League (22) | | | | | | | | | | 28/04/2007 13:00 | | Home | Lost | 1 | | | | 05/05/2007 13:00 | | Away | Won | 30 | | | | 12/05/2007 13:30 | | Home | Won | 30 | | | | 19/05/2007 13:30 | | Home | Lost | 5 | | | | 26/05/2007 13:30 | | Away | Lost | 3 | | The 2nd team suffered a second batting collapse in 2 weeks, this time falling from 116-4 to 118-10, to lose the match against Thirsk. Batting first Thirsk reached 198-4, only Robert Chipps with 35 offered any significant resistance. | | 02/06/2007 13:30 | | Home | Won | 30 | | Mike Shaw was the hero of the hour in a very tense conclusion at the Costcutter Cricket Ground. Set 203 for victory, the target was achieved but with only one wicket to spare. Andy Chipps 48, Josh Tattersall 45, Andy Milne 30 & Dave Wilson 25 all contributed valuable runs, but novice No.11 Tom Richards had to survive one ball with the score two short of victory & one short of a tie, before Mike Shaw was able to hit the winning runs. Rob Chipps was the pick of the bowlers with 3-47. | | 09/06/2007 13:30 | | Away | Won | 30 | | This match was effectively won by the Dunnington opening bowlers who had Rowntree 19-5 within the first eight overs. A slight recovery enabled Rowntree to reach 73-10. Mike Noble hitting the wickets 4 times to end with 4-18. Batting was never easy on a tricky track but youngsters Josh Tattersall & Adam Sutcliffe continued their good form to see the team home for the loss of 5 wickets. | | 16/06/2007 13:30 | | Home | Draw | 26 | | After waiting until 3.30 following a heavy shower just as the match was about to commence, the Dunnington batsmen made up for lost time. The 50 mark was passed in 5 overs, mainly thanks to a stunning innings from Andy Milne (55) who reached his own 50 in just 25 balls. Further agressive batting by Josh Tattersall (59) and Andy Chipps (53) and some late hitting from youngsters Rob Chipps and Adam Sutcliffe took the total to an impressive 211 from 30 overs. Early wickets from Rob Chipps (3-27) effectively killed off any chance of a Selby win. The biggest threat became the dark thunder clouds circling the ground. Racing through the remaining overs proved to be a wise decision by stand in skipper Gary Andrew. 5 minutes after the result was sealed the heavens opened once again. | | 23/06/2007 13:30 | | Home | Won | 30 | | A welcome return to form for Gary Andrew (38*) was enough to seal an edgy victory against the league leaders. Earlier a tight bowling & fielding performance had restricted Cawood to just 67-10 in 33.4 overs of a rain reduced match. Andy Chipps (3-11) & Adam Sutcliffe (2-14) were the pick of an all round excellent bowling display. In reply Dunnington started badly and lost 3 early wickets before Andrew with important help from Neil Wilson then Adam Sutcliffe lead the team home. | | 30/06/2007 13:30 | | Away | Rain | 9 | | The match was called off by Yapham due to the state of the ground after recent flooding. | | 07/07/2007 13:30 | | Home | Draw | 27 | | A good all round team performance couldn't quite capture all 30 points, but was good enough to elevate the team to 2nd in the league. 207 was always going to be a hard total to chase down on a testing wicket. In form youngster Josh Tattersall lead the way with 62*, Neil Wilson scored a hard hitting 53, Andy Chipps (34) & Dave Wilson (25) made valuable contributions. In the final analysis the team missed their usual opening attack, who were both on holiday, and couldn't take the final wicket. Adam Sutcliffe (4-38) & Andy Chipps (3-32) took them close. | | 14/07/2007 13:30 | | Away | Won | 30 | | In contrast to the first team pitch, conditions at the Magnet Sports Club were bone dry. Unfortunately the pitch didn't play too well, most balls tending to stay very low. Asked to bat by Dunnington Skipper Mike Noble the home side looked unsure on the pitch and dropped anchor, struggling to 118-10. Noble lead the way with figures of 3-16. In reply Dunnington got a good start through openers Dave Wilson & Andy Chipps before youngsters Josh Tattersall & Robert Chipps accelerated matters, taking the team past it's target with 13 overs and 7 wickets to spare. | | 21/07/2007 13:30 | | Home | Draw | 9 | The Gough Family | The match was called off because of a waterlogged square. | | 28/07/2007 13:30 | | Away | Won | 30 | | Mike Noble's record breaking spell against Bolton Percy will long be remembered by all those who witnessed it. His overall figures of 9-10 tell only half the story. After Bolton Percy's opening bat had edged the first ball of the innings to Josh Tattersall behind the stumps, Noble proceeded to hit the wickets 8 times, five of these in one over, including his first ever hat trick. Bolton Percy were bowled out for just 25 runs. Earlier Gary Andrew (103) & Josh Tattersall (47) had set the foundation for a big first innings score of 269-8. Noble had himself scored 38* aided & abetted in his quick fire big hitting by Steve Wilson (30). The match was notable for a hundred partnership, a 244 run margin of victory, but most of all for a remarkable spell of bowling by Noble. | | 04/08/2007 13:30 | | Away | Lost | 5 | | The second team threw away a match they could have won and with it the lead in the 5th Division. Batting first on a hard bouncy track, too many batsmen threw away their wicket as the score crawled up to just 100-10. a spirited response in the field set up a tense finale, but it was not enough as Osbaldwick reached 101 for the loss of 9 wickets. Rob Chipps top scored with 27 and then took 4-28. Mike Noble followed last week's record breaking with another 5-30. | | 11/08/2007 13:30 | | Home | Lost | 4 | | A disappointing weekend for the team started on Friday when skipper Mike Noble cried off. In the true spirit of cricket, stand-in skipper Gary Andrew, refused the chance to to claim the toss when Thirsk turned up 15 minutes after the official start time. The cricketing gods , however, did not repay this act of kindness, Thirsk duly won the toss & asked Dunnington to bat. Openers Andrew & Andy Chipps started cautiously but went on to establish a strong position. Following their dismissal, only Neil Wilson with 35 showed much sign of making an impact. 163 was never going to be enough, but wayward early bowling & some shoddy fielding made this one of the teams poorest performance of the year so far. Thirsk reached their target with 7 wickets and plenty of overs to spare. | | 18/08/2007 13:30 | | Away | Draw | 9 | | Rain rescued the 2nd team who had been dismissed for just 87. Play didn't recommence after the tea break. Only Andy Chipps (30), Rob Chipps (13) and Mike Noble (12) reached double figures for Dunnington. | | 25/08/2007 13:00 | | Home | Draw | 26 | | In a fantastic game of cricket Rowntree failed to get the 4 off the last ball that they needed to tie the match. A return to form for Dunnington's batsmen saw them post a respectable total of 201-5 and claim maximum batting points. However Rowntree were never out of the match and scored at the required rate throughout their innings, leaving themselves just 8 to win from the last over. Dunnington's innings was based on a stand between Dave wilson (72) & Mike Shaw (48), with Steve Wilson scoring a quick fire 27 at the end. In reply the bowlers couldn't make much impact and continued to concede runs throughout. Josh Tattersall was best bowler (2-30) after keeping wicket for the first half of the match. | | 27/08/2007 13:00 | | Away | Won | 30 | | This was a comfortable victory based on early breakthroughs with the ball. Mike Noble (4-18) bowled a fine opening spell & was supported by good bowling from Andy Chipps (3-11) and Gerard Camplejohn (2-23). Selby were dismissed for a round 100. In reply a second wicket partnership from Andy Chipps (44) & Mike Shaw (25) was enough to seal the victory in the 34th over. | | 01/09/2007 13:00 | | Away | Lost | 7 | | The 2nd XI's chance of winning the league is probably over after this defeat at Cawood. Batting first, a collapse left the team stuggling at 46-6, however Steve Wilson with 77, (71 runs through the leg side!) and Adam Sutcliffe (43) appeared to have changed the match, setting Cawood a challenging total of 195 for victory. Jonny Andrew's late cameo of 14 included an immaculately timed 6 over midwicket. In reply Cawood mirrored the Dunnington innings, at one stage they were 40-4 before mounting a fightback, reaching their target in the 41st over. Rob Chipps (3-47) & Gerard Camplejohn (3-28) bowled well in vain. | | 08/09/2007 13:00 | | Home | Draw | 27 | | This match was a family affair. The batting was dominated by the Chipps pair of Andy (74*) & Rob (51) plus the Wilsons, Neil (49) & Steve (24*). A total of 223-5 was never enough to make the match comfortable. Yapham were always up with the run rate, as skipper Gary Andrew nobly stuck to his promise of involving the team's youngsters. The final session was dominated by the team's regular bowlers who slowed Yapham's reply & continued to take important wickets, 8 of the 9 wickets to fall were taken by the Chipps pairing, Rob dominating with 6-49. Yapham finished on 201-9. | | 15/09/2007 13:00 | | Away | Lost | 7 | | With nothing riding on the result and many front line players unavailable, the team took the chance to give debuts to several U13 players. Steven Dodsworth, Tom Wilson, Adam Dyson & Simon Wilson batted at 4, 5, 7 & 8 respectively and all bar Simon got to bowl. The champagne moment came from a Whitkirk fielding error which gave Adam Dyson 7 runs from a solid leg side drive. Batting first Dunnington, under stand in skipper Neil Wilson, started well through Andy Chipps (66) & Mike Shaw (26). Gerrard Camplejohn batting unusually high at No.3 scored 13 & Adam Sutcliffe (30) scored some late innings runs. Neil Wilson (5) batting at No.11 prevented a Wilson clean sweep as all three Wilsons batting before him got ducks. Whitkirk struggled in reply but ground out a victory in the 44th over. Andy Chipps (3-28) & Steve Wilson (3-15) were the best bowlers on the day. The team dropped one place to 5th in the final league table but achieved the main priority of a top half finish to avoid relegation in the reshuffle. |
