At
a presentation held in York Brewery, Dunnington bowlers Mike Noble & Kashif
Mahmood picked up awards for their bowling in July & August. Mike had figures of
9-10 against Bolton Percy in July and Kash followed this in August with figures
of 8-32 against Hull Zingari. Kash's award was the only one won by a Premiership
player this season. Mike is pictured with League President George Myrescough &
League Secretary Albert Pattison. The awards bring £25 each to the club in prize
money donated by the League's sponsors Hunters Property Group. The full size

Dunnington
batsman Collis King has extended his remarkable record for scoring centuries. In
each of his past 11 seasons in the York & District Senior Cricket League, Collis
has scored at least one century. With only 2 matches left this season it looked
like the end of the run was in sight. Against Heworth a week earlier, Collis was
left stranded on 96* after 50 overs. Against Pickering in the penultimate match
of the season, his score was 90 entering the last over. Drawing on all his
experience, including winning the World Cup with the West Indies in 1979, he
took 4 off the second ball and hit a six off the third ball to reach his target
in style. This was Collis' 36th century, which is another league record. Having
scored 196 runs without being dismissed, he is likely to figure highly in the
league averages too, this season he has scored 633 runs at 57.55. Rum sellers in
the area beware, the party has started. |

Mike
Noble's record breaking spell against Bolton Percy will long be remembered by
all those who witnessed it. His overall figures of 9-10 tell only half the
story. After Bolton Percy's opening bat had edged the first ball of the innings
to Josh Tattersall behind the stumps, Noble proceeded to hit the wickets 8
times, five of these in one over, including his first ever hat trick. Bolton
Percy were bowled out for just 25 runs. Earlier Gary Andrew (103) & Josh
Tattersall (47) had set the foundation for a big first innings score of 269-8.
Noble had himself scored 38* aided & abetted in his quick fire big hitting by
Steve Wilson (30). The match was notable for a century, a hundred partnership, a
244 run margin of victory, but most of all for a remarkable spell of bowling by
Noble. |

The
Intermediate team capped an impressive season by wining the league title in a
match against Fenner, the champions for the last 2 seasons. It was a mixed
season for the club with the senior teams both disappointing but the midweek
team excelled to win Division A of the Foss League. The junior teams also
suffered mixed fortunes with the U15 reaching the final in their championship
but all other teams will look back on a season of development! |

Collis
King & Kelvin Patterson took the main awards at the Club's Annual Dinner, held
at the Pavilion Hotel. Collis won the 1st Team batting award with 677 runs at an
average of 56.42. This included a century which extended his record to 12
consecutive seasons where he has scored at least one ton. Our overseas player
for 2007 Kelvin Patterson, won the 1st team bowling award with 44 wickets at an
average of 18.68. In the 2nd team, Andy Chipps won the batting award (591
runs at 32.83) and Mike Noble took the bowling award (29 wickets at 8.1). For
the Midweek team Jack Bolam & Rob Chipps won the batting & bowling awards and
Rob Chipps, also took the Brian Auton Memorial trophy for Intermediate player of
the year after topping the bowling averages & sharing the batting with Gareth
Miles. Special awards were made to Mike Noble & Andy Milne to commemorate
their remarkable performances this season. Mike took 9-10 against Bolton Percy
in July, Bolton Percy only had 10 men & this prevented Mike making it all 10.
Andy who is 16, hit 177 against Londesborough Park in May unfortunately for us
Andy had to return to Leeds Utd in July, otherwise he would have easily topped
the 2nd team averages. The Clubman of the year Cliff Johnson (Pictured) was
presented with the Mills memorial shield by Deb Chipps, for his continued work
as Groundsman, despite "retiring" last season. The evening was rounded off
nicely by York's newest standup, Dave Wilson. Dave is obviously making an early
claim for the vacancy created by the loss of Bernard Manning earlier in the
year. Photos of the night can be found in the
gallery section of the site.

Friday
7th September saw another enjoyable & successful dinner & presentation night for
the Junior section. The Under 11 batting & bowling awards went to Oliver Smith &
George Wilson. Steven Dodsworth & Tom Craddock took the U13 awards and Adam
Sutcliffe & Sam Tattersall took the U15 awards. The U15 fielding award went to
Matty Playle. The Don Andrew memorial trophy was awarded this year to Mike Shaw.
This year has seen Mike develop significantly as a player, he has made valuable
contributions for the U15s & the Midweek XI and has become a regular for the 2nd
XI, with a top score so far of 48. The club would like to thank Dave Wilson
(pictured above, presenting award to George Wilson) for organising the event and
also for all the hard work he has done running the Junior section again this
year. More pictures of the event can be seen in the
Gallery section of the site

The
U9 presentation evening was held at the club on Friday 7th September. All the
squad received medals commemorating the season. Jack Spofforth collected the
batting award. Oliver Peake-Vout & Alex Wilson shared the bowling award. Both
teams did very well in our first season competing at this age group and are in
good shape to move forward next year. More pictures of the event can be seen in
the Gallery

1st v Acomb by Andy Chipps | Sat 05 Jul 2008 1:30 PM | This match was abandoned without starting
| 2nd @ Wilberfoss by Andy Chipps | Sat 05 Jul 2008 1:30 PM | This match was abandoned without starting
| U9B XI @ York U9B by Andy Chipps | Thu 03 Jul 2008 6:30 PM | Still rooted to the foot of the division but steadily improving, the winless U9Bs scored an impressive 244 (274-6) and took four wickets, whilst still losing to York B team. Rosie Todd starred with the bat (19) and ball (1-4) and was supported by Max Boswell (13) Chris Pryer (1-19) & Will Dalton (2-10). The aim is now to win one of the 3 remaining matches.
| 3rd @ Barmby Moor by Andy Chipps | Wed 02 Jul 2008 6:30 PM | A disappointing defeat for the Foss team. Restricted to 90-8, with only Rob Chipps (35) making an impact. Jack Bolam was victim of two of his ex-teachers from Pocklington School for just 8. Barmby knocked the runs off for the loss of just three wickets, thus no bowlers are worthy of a mention.
| U9A XI v Selby by Andy Chipps | Wed 02 Jul 2008 6:30 PM | This was a great response to the defeat against York by the U9A team. Batting first they rattled up 285 (300-3). Alex Wilson top scored with 32, Will Jones got 16 & Charlie Barron 10. Selby were restricted to 240 (265-5) Alex Wilson was also best bowler with 2-10, Ellie Chipps took 1-6.
